Greetings, this is my first post here.
I’m having trouble resuming my system from hibernation.
Instead of returning to the KDE lock screen or SDDM, I get a black screen with a frozen cursor in the top-left corner. Keyboard input has no effect, I can’t switch TTYs, and the only way to log in is to hard-reset the machine.
I also don’t see any useful logs: journalctl -b -1 only shows messages from before hibernation and ends without errors. After a hard reset, journalctl only shows logs from that session.
Hibernation used to work before, and I always used it to save my sessions. I still don't know what could have changed, there is been a while since the last time I hibernated my computer. Since then a lot of driver, firmware and kernel updates may have happened.
Originally I thought it had to do with SDDM and Wayland, since I modified it to run using the Wayland compositor but after reverting this change I realized it had nothing to do. I also uninstalled the Flatpak package, though I doubt this could have an effect and lastly I installed Steam via de multilib repo. Again, I dont think this could be the culprit, but it's the last modifications I did after my last successful hibernation cycle.
Has anyone encountered this issue or knows how to debug it?
I'm using a ASUS Vivobook laptop with a NVIDIA 1050 graphics card, using nvidia 580.76.05-4 driver. I know that NVIDIA has problems with Linux.
The relevant intramfs options are the following:
MODULES=(nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm i915)
HOOKS=(systemd plymouth autodetect microcode modconf sd-vconsole block filesystems fsck)
COMPRESSION="zstd"

I should have mentioned:
I'm booting using an Unified Kernel Image (UKI) but still have GRUB as a backup.
My laptop uses both Nvidia and Intel graphics card.
My swap space is a 16 gb NVMe which was a former Intel optane drive.
This only happens with Hibernation, suspending to RAM works fine
