[Solved]Can a new git account be used to cause problems for others?

It'll be a while before I can get a mobile device I can use for 2fa. I have dedicated hardware for where I can't do without 2fa.

As the only other option would be running pam oath in a vm, which does make it more difficult but lacks the security of a separate physical key:

What could someone do with my account other than download and write comments with my username?

EDIT: I don't need the access immediately as the problem was solvable by using a package from AUR that pulls the correct version from github: v2l4loopback-dmks in extra is outdated and throws an error during install (something with some timer).

For which sites would this git account be used ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

For cloning, you don't need an account. 2FA is also not required for the mentioned server.

This means I missed the instructions that say what username I should enter when prompted:

$ git clone https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/git/v4l2loopback.git
Cloning into 'v4l2loopback'...
Username for 'https://gitlab.archlinux.org':

Maybe only when the account is being setup. I didn't go past the page where I was asked.

Likely because you have the wrong URL. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_b … t_directly

Oh god. I see it and just tried without. Apparently managed to trick myself copy/pasting. Or more likely I didn't copy/paste when I should have.

Though it wouldn't have helped as it includes sha256sums (the AUR version just pulls the latest).

I'll ask for the (not yet setup) account to be closed. It makes my initial question obsolete(solved). I thought it was done to restrict traffic big_smile

Thank you.
