Proton warping game resolutions, or causing games to crash

Problem
Initially, the specific games that I installed from steam worked properly and did not show any major issues. However, after relaunching them for the second time, one of the games, Guilty Gear Strive, launches, but shows only a fully black screen, while the other game, Ultrakill, Started stretching the resolution vertically, not stopping at all. This problem has not occurred for other titles I have installed, such as Slime Rancher. For Guilty Gear, the warping also occurred sometimes, being fixed by putting the window back in focus, but it has gotten worse.

Tested Solutions
1. Switching between Proton 9, Hotfix, and Experimental (Not using Proton GE)
2. Switching between steam native and non native runtime
3. Using the steam flatpak
4. Gamescope, which works, but causes games to not properly use fullscreen in my DE

Specs
Graphic Driver: amdgpu
DE: cosmic-epoch

Relevant error?

2879.303:0118:0148:err:service:device_notify_proc failed to get event, error 1726

Logs did not have much information on the errors, please lmk if there is a better way

Re: Proton warping game resolutions, or causing games to crash

Some of those are "normal" GGST has a very limited resolution selection if your resolution is somewhat "nonstandard" then it's very well not in it's native support list and might lead to weird issues, especially so when using a experimental Wayland compositor.

So can you repro any of this on "more established" setups like KDE? What's your resolution, the resolution you expect to reach? You should be able to configure gamescope correctly so it gives you a proper fullscreen window while taking care of any scaling differences and all in all configuring this properly is most likely your best shot.

Re: Proton warping game resolutions, or causing games to crash

I should've realized this before. Using KDE resolved all issues with resolution warping and improper fullscreen. Thanks for your suggestion
