amdgpu drivers resetting and erroring while displays sleeping

Hi!

Fresh install (as of just a couple weeks ago), and started noticing an issue. Whenever i lock my Plasma session and the displays go into sleep mode (as configured), the AMDGPU drivers start spamming these log emssages repeatedly (3 times about every 5 minutes):

juli 25 00:56:37 magnesium kernel: amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dpcd_set_link_settings:1117: core_link_write_dpcd (DP_DOWNSPREAD_CTRL) failed
juli 25 00:56:37 magnesium kernel: amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dpcd_set_link_settings:1122: core_link_write_dpcd (DP_LANE_COUNT_SET) failed
juli 25 00:56:37 magnesium kernel: amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dpcd_set_link_settings:1150: core_link_write_dpcd (DP_LINK_BW_SET) failed

The combination of these log messages result in any of the following symptoms or log messages:

  • Displays turning back on and off repeatedly (entering and exiting sleep)

  • juli 24 15:27:01 magnesium kernel: amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] enabling link 1 failed: 15
  • juli 24 15:51:15 magnesium kernel: amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* No EDID read.
  • One or both displays resetting to an 800x600 resolution, either with or without the option to turn them back to their full 2560x1440p resolution (depending on if the “No EDID read” message appeared). This is usually an end state, and causes the error messages to stop.

This was not an issue on a previous install on the same hardware when using HDMI, this has only become an issue after switching displays and using DP.

I have 2 MSI G27CQ4 displays connected to my RX6600 over DP 1.4 cables. I don’t have any other displays to test with, nor other DP cables. Kernel version 6.15.7-arch1-1, though appears with other versions as well. xorg-server v21.1.18-2.

Thanks for any help!
