Drag and drop broken almost everywhere
Hey,
Some recent update broke dragging around text to move it for me. The behavior of it is different in many applications: in firefox, if you select text and move it now only moves in choppy steps. In geany, you cannot select a paragraph of text and drag to move it elsewhere at all anymore. In kwrite, it still works but graphically looks different than before. In kate, despite being similar to kwrite, it also works but the rendering is broken, it shows the text you're moving at a random location far away from the mouse pointer.
I use cinnamon as the desktop with X11.
What might have changed about drag and drop in a recent Linux GUI or graphics library or desktop update, and how can I get the old behavior back?

EDIT: It's not only dragging of text that broke, also for example dragging of files in Nemo
