Hi,
i managed to set up OBS with HEVC encoding using VAAPI. As long as my GPU is underutilised everything works fine, i can stream/record with constant 60 fps.
But if a game taxes my GPU to over 90% for a few seconds, my stream/recording becomes a slideshow while the game still renders between 40-60 fps.
I already tried running OBS with gamemode while running the game without, but my recording still becomes a slideshow.
is there any way i can use hardware encoding on the same graphics card i game on?
under Windows you can set the process priority of OBS to realtime. OBS then has higher priority on CPU, GPU and IO and outranks any game. can something similar be done under Linux?
can cgroups affect GPU priority?
does a tool like gamemode for streaming software exist?
at this point i am wildly guessing around because i have no angle to put my crowbar in. can someone please point me in the right direction. thanks.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
