Issue running Protontricks

So I want to try out Alecaframe, but I can't get Overwolf installed with base wine. I tried to follow this guide here:

https://docs.alecaframe.com/linux-support.html

But I ran into an error when I tried to run protontricks

"Unknown file arch: 65"

I'd hit okay twice, then it'd say

"You are using a 64-bit WINEPREFIX. Note that many verbs only install 32-bit versions of packages. If you encounter problems, please retest a clean 32-bit WINEPREFIX before reporting a bug."

When I use it to run the Overwolf installer, it still says "Failed to start application, please contact support."

Re: Issue running Protontricks

I had the same error for you.

Original guide at https://docs.alecaframe.com/linux-support.html

I installed dotnet452 using protontricks.

protontricks 230410 dotnet452

I then got the exe from "OverwolfSetup.zip" which installed successfully.

https://support.overwolf.com/en/support … leshooting
https://setup-overwolf-com.akamaized.ne … fSetup.zip

Overwolf will fail to start, because it requires .NET 4.8
protontricks fails to install dotnet48, so you have to use winetricks

WINEPREFIX="/home/REPLACE-ME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/230410/pfx/" winetricks -q dotnet40
WINEPREFIX="/home/REPLACE-ME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/230410/pfx/" winetricks -q dotnet48

Warframe will then error with "Warframe can not be run on this version of Windows; Windows 7 64-Bit (32-bit not supported) or later is required."

protontricks 230410 win10

To open Overwolf to set your hotkeys for the overlay

protonhax run 230410 "/home/REPLACE-ME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/230410/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Overwolf/Overwolf.exe"

To open AlecaFrame

protonhax run 230410 "/home/REPLACE-ME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/230410/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Overwolf/AlecaFrame.lnk"

Re: Issue running Protontricks

Bullite, would you share which proton version you are using?  I've followed your suggestions and was able to get overwolf and alecaframe installed, though the method for launching alecaframe via command line doesnt work for me. it looks like overwolf installs the alecaframe .lnk on the desktop folder of the prefix rather than in the start menu.  Did you install alecaframe with the alecaframe installer or via the overwolf appstore?

When I run alecaframe, it launches but I get the error message "Failed to download the latest game data" "Error: Could not find a part of the path "C:\users\steamuser\AppData\Local\AlecaFrame\cachedData\custom\dataFilePatches.json"." And when I check the prefix directory, there is no "custom" subdirectory.

Re: Issue running Protontricks

I was able to get past the "Failed to download the latest game data" error by importing my entire "C:\users\steamuser\AppData\Local\AlecaFrame" folder from a native windows installation; unfortunately AlecaFrame never updates my account data, nor does it automatically run the in-game overlays for relics and rivens.

I suspect that these issues are a result of Overwolf not being properly hooked with Warframe as it launches, despite AlecaFrame claiming that there are no such issues.
