USB bluetooth not recognized

I purchased a bluetooth USB adapter, but it's not working.
I installed the bluez package as per the wiki's instructions, and also the deprecated package.

rfkill list, and hciconfig -a returns nothing.

#>dmesg | grep -i blue

On inserting the usb stick

Re: USB bluetooth not recognized

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
