I am having the same problem, and the instructions on Musescore's website are actually useless on Linux. None of the settings and/or remedies they suggest applies. Does anyone have other suggestions?

Actually, I found the solution in an old post on Musescore site: all I had to do was deleting the file .asoundrc from my home directory. Hopefully this will not mess up things later.

I ran into this issue, manifesting as the playback cursor not moving when pressing the play button.
I tried switching the Audio backend from ALSA to Pipewire in the settings, but that didn't work.
What finally fixed it was installing the `pipewire-alsa` package and restarting Musescore. Seems like that package should at least be an optdepends so people who use Pipewire know it's needed for playback.
