No, first and foremost try to boot https://grml.org/ (w/o applying nomodeset) to see whether the hardware causes problems there as well.
Then try to get the edid data from the monitor (see #14) and post that.

it makes me automatically 1024x768 when using nomodeset but i am trying to make it work without setting it 1024x768

grml is a live distro, you can put that on a USB key like the arch iso and boot it the same way.
The point is to try whether modesetting still works when you're only using a XGA output - iffff it's the converter, anything > 1024x768 might not be possible and that's what's this test would show.
If you can run at 1024x768 WITHOUT nomodeset it's extremely likely that the converter is the culprit.
