ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA403WM Touchpad crashes Xorg with kernel bug

Hello everyone, a while after starting Xorg all the windows become unresponsive. Then I would proceed to killall firefox and other windows and it would work fine for a while

But if I lock the laptop (I use xsecurelock) after login it all windows would freeze again within first few minutes of usage. Here is the content of Xorg.log file

dmesg looks empty, that was probably because of me restarting Xorg:

[18370.659846] nvidia 0000:64:00.0: Enabling HDA controller

[18956.011995] nvidia 0000:64:00.0: Enabling HDA controller

What could be the issue, it happens even if I don't use touchpad. Can the issue be some kind of fingerprint sensor (I don't use it either)? Thank you.

Re: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA403WM Touchpad crashes Xorg with kernel bug

I've ran regular kernel and linux-g14 provided by https://asus-linux.org/, it didn't help.

I would appreciate any help, thank you in advance!

Re: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA403WM Touchpad crashes Xorg with kernel bug

Things I tried:
- installing Windows on a separate drive so I can run the proprietary tooling to upgrade BIOS => didn't help
- recording evemu event-trace and replaying it => wasn't able to reproduce the bug

So I figured maybe it's not a touchpad issue. There were some warning with regard to my dGPU in dmesg:

[Mon Oct 6 01:51:27 2025] amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: SMU is resuming...
[Mon Oct 6 01:51:27 2025] amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: SMU is resumed successfully!
[Mon Oct 6 01:51:27 2025] amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: ring gfx_0.0.0 uses VM inv eng 0 on hub 0
[Mon Oct 6 01:51:27 2025] amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: ring comp_1.0.0 uses VM inv eng 1 on hub 0
[Mon Oct 6 01:51:27 2025] amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: ring comp_1.1.0 uses VM inv eng 4 on hub 0
[Mon Oct 6 01:51:27 2025] amdgpu 0000:65:00.0: amdgpu: ring comp_1.2.0 uses VM inv eng 6 on hub 0

after some experimentation the issue was solved by disabling Active State Power Management: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_ … Management and adding this kernel parameter:

pcie_aspm=off

Would be glad to hear any additional feedback or alternative ways to deal with the issue.

Unsure if I can do it myself, mark this thread as solved please

Re: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA403WM Touchpad crashes Xorg with kernel bug

Mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

Please use [code][/code] tags, not "quote" tags. Edit your post in this regard.

Don't do that

See whether you get away w/ "amdgpu.aspm=0" but those are not warnings and apparently there's also an nvidia GPU?
Please post your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General and test the behavior w/o xf86-video-amdgpu
