SDDM - sddm.conf directory and files missing

Just started using arch on my home PC, originally my DE was gnome but I wanted a more customizable desktop so I installed plasma.

It works fine but I have to switch to it in the SDDM login screen everytime, I'd rather it load by default.

So I searched up my problem and was directed towards the sddm.conf file to make configuration changes, such as the default DE I'd like to load. I go to /etc/ and there is no such directory or file.

How can I overcome this? should I just create the directory and file myself?

Re: SDDM - sddm.conf directory and files missing

Probably not the right answer, but it worked.

- Booted into the shell
- Uninstalled gnome using pacman -Runs gnome / as root
- Reinstalled sddm and plasma
- Enabled and started sddm

Booyah! Loaded right into plasma

However, the sddm.conf file and directory still does not exist.....

The config file isn't mandatory, you probably just needed to enable the display manager properly: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Displa … ay_manager

In any case, please mark as [SOLVED] by editing the title in your thread.
