is there any "plugger" daemon on arch?

Fellas,

Is there some utility to automatically detect a pen drive, cds/dvds on arch???. Something similar with suseplugger on Novell Suse.

Well that depends on what kind of environment you are using.  Gnome has gnome-volume-manager, there is ivman (a console background app), KDE does it as well, and I believe XFCE does it now with thunar-volman.  I think there is also a way to hack it into your udev rules.  Personaly I just use KDE.

Is DBUS and HAL in your daemons array in rc.conf, and are you in the 'storage' group?  These are the most common errors people encounter on arch with this stuff.

dbus need to be loaded before hal. I'm not sure about backgrounding every single process that boots...

Re: is there any "plugger" daemon on arch?

Did you try without background those 2 ?
I've seen posts saying dbus & hal do not work allright when backgrounded.

Re: is there any "plugger" daemon on arch?

You don't need both hal and dbus in the daemons list, hal automatically starts dbus (just as it starts acpid too). Also, I think the problem is that hal can't be backgrounded, try removing the @ in front of it.

Do you have unmounted/mounted removable media set to show up in kcontrol > Desktop > Device Icons?
