intellij products not working

I been trying to install Intellij IDE, both as the communty edition and the pro edition both though AUR, and ideas own download url(the .tar). When i have tried to run idea or idea.sh in the bin folder i just get 2 windows, a grey window and the startup logo. i use wayland. I also tried to install the jetbrains-toolbox but it also just freezes when launched. I dont know if it is a wayland problem or i need some configurations done right.

Please 1) Edit your original post and put the commands and their output in [ code ] tags and 2) Build the AUR package using only makepkg, not an AUR helper.

Why are you not installing intellij-idea-community-edition from [Extra]?

hope it is better now with the code snippets, i am pretty new to arch, so bear over with me
i tried to build the AUR (community edition) with makepkg -si, but i still face the same error, at splash screen of idea logo, and a second screen which is just gray(i guess it probably is either licens request or configuration)

And what happens if you run intellij-idea-community-edition from [Extra]? Do you actually *need* to run the AUR package? AFAIK the only difference is the bundled JRE and you might get better results with the officially supported version from the repo.

well now i have tried the package from [Extra] and it didn't work either, the only differences between the results are that the splash screen loads and goes away while the other EULA screen, which was the one before that only was gray, now shows the test and the accept button, but i cant scroll ind it or click in it. it is like it is still frozen, so i little closer i came but somehow it still breaks. i have also tried to force it back the x11:

a) a fresh user account? [Edit: the previous runs might have left some bogus config behind]
b) an actual X11 session (eg. openbox)?

Okay i see what you meant twelveeighty, i did download the AUR package from https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … ty-edition , but i thought you meant download/install it using the pacman -S "package name" which i mean is also AUR, but that one dosent work, either this pc or my other pc. but it worked

git clone https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/intellij-idea-community-edition
cd intellij-idea-community-edition
makepkg -si

that fixed all the problems with the program, but shouldn't pacman also work?? and why dosent it work?

wow it is really confusing to understand :'D but i must try anyway. But thanks for the information, and i try to read more for understanding the concepts. What really bugs me is that i have no idea where to start learning all of this hardcore technicality, and i am still a noob programmer, and this is just different from programming, since it is a much more understanding of operative systems and how they works. Plus how the f do you people even know if a package is good or not for your specs???

Errr… what?
While it's not entirely clear what the problem w/ the repo installation was, it is what's supposed to work and what you're presumingly using right now (unless of course this is not an x86_64 system)

Just so I'm on the same page, after *only* doing what you list in post #8, you can launch Intellij successfully? Because it working without doing one or both of what seth suggested would be very strange.

In terms of specs: if you're just starting out with Linux my recommendation is to stay away from Wayland for the time being and stick to Xorg for now. AFAIK the only thing you will have to give up is running GNOME, but there's many other (much better, IMO) options out there, just check out Desktop Environments or, if you really want to embrace flexibility, look at running just a Window Manager. The most common "specification" problems are with graphics cards, but once that's solved, you generally don't have to worry about whether a package works with your specs or not, unless you are doing heavy-duty peripheral processing such as graphical/video editing or sound processing.
