[SOLVED] Need help with wine and winecfg

I have been using for a while wine, and recently I started to have a problem, days ago I was using a drawing program with wine, and I saved the project and nothing out of
normal, that was on the 20th of October, days ago I opened the program and I tried to import an image, but the file explorer of wine didn't open, at the time I t thought it was just an error with a specific window, today I tried to save a new project in a new directory and the file explorer didn't open again, I try to run winecfg to see if I can fix it with the file access and winecfg doesn't open, I open winetricks and it opens correctly but can't open winecfg either. I need help with this, how I fix it.

EDIT: wine programs open and function perfectly but none can open a file explorer anymore to open files or save a file.

SOLUTION: I made a copy of the drivec folder in the .wine wiped completely the .wine folder, ran winecfg it recreated the .wine from 0 I loaded the drivec folder again and re configured all the apps I had.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help with wine and winecfg

is it just a corrupted prefix ? what happens if you create a new one ?

WINEPREFIX=/home/<username>/.test winecfg

obviously change <username> to suit

It asked me to install wine mono and made it correctly and opened winecfg, will see if installing wine-mono as a package will help with the default prefix.

Nope it did not work it seems like the default prefix is corrupted. Any way to fix it?

What exact errors do you get when e.g. trying to reproduce a faulty situation in the terminal? If there's nothing inherently important in the prefix I'd just wipe it and let it be recreated.

There is not an exact error, it just doesn't open without throwing an error, at least when i run winecfg

But wiping it and let it recreate it fixed winecfg from not opening, will get all my apps back and how they were configed and will see if that fixed it all.

Yup that did the trick thx!
