[Resolved] Complete freezing on Xe driver with Arc iGPU

It occurs to me quite frequently that the whole system freezes while playing videos using vaapi, and I have to do a hard reset every time for I cannot even switch ttys.

This happens to me after I switch to the xe driver from i915 (and no issues switched back), my laptop has an Ultra 7 255H cpu with the Arc 140T iGPU. And this issue does not appear on my older tiger lake laptop.

After the hard reset I cannot find very useful log with journalctl except for the following log that shows actually well before the freeze occuring..

~~EDIT: this issue is resolved by upgrading to mesa-git..~~
EDIT: even it runs fine in one hour decoding videos and even longer, it still freezes at last..

EDIT: this issue is finally resolved by turning off sagv in the bios setting..

Can you reboot using the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Keyboa … el_(SysRq) + REISUB? Or just frenetically pressing ctrl+alt+del?
(Cutting power from the system will systematically prevent the journal form being written to disk, that's not even lennarts fault )

Is the warning from after waking from sleep or is this a hybrid graphics system?

I would highly suspect this will ever work at all as my laptop is having a haptic touchpad that stops responding when this kind of freezing happens, but I'll try to do that later.

Is the warning from after waking from sleep or is this a hybrid graphics system?

My laptop only has an iGPU, and I assume the log I have posted appears after resume from suspend for I do not see such log output during normal usage.

Find the freeze issue occurs during decoding hevc resources actually.. And the cachyos and archlinux repos having different linux-firmware-intel version, so that might be the reason why this issue can be resolved by switching back to the archlinux repos.

No, it still freezes while I'm watching a live stream..
