USB still has power after shutdown

After running sudo systemctl poweroff, my mouse and keyboard lights remain on. How can I resolve this issue? I don’t use multiboot.

My Asus motherboard is old and does not have an ERP option (see: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1042220/).

I have read this discussion: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=303099

I tried disabling and enabling Fast Boot in UEFI, but it made no difference.

I’m not sure what additional information I should provide. I just want to disable my mouse light after poweroff, since it can’t be turned off with any switch unless I cut the power completely.

Re: USB still has power after shutdown

Is it only the power to the usb devices or is the  overall board still powered?
Can you manually power the system off and are the devices then still powered?
Can you suspend the system and are the devices then  powered?
Are you sure there's no ERP option at all? Are there updates for your UEFI available? Have you tried a different us port?

I tried disabling and enabling Fast Boot in UEFI, but it made no difference.

This is generally irrelevant, both to any dualboot fast-start condition and the power supply to external devices.

Re: USB still has power after shutdown

1. Fans and HDD are off, but maybe only the USB ports remain powered, since both the keyboard and mouse show lights.
2. If “manually power off” means using the power button to shut down, then yes—the mouse and keyboard still light up.
3. Running `sudo systemctl suspend` powers off the keyboard but not the mouse. When I press a key to check if the keyboard still has power, the system powers on (obviously).
4. I didn’t find an ERP option. I don’t know if it has a hidden name. I checked all the option descriptions but found no clue.
5. It might be available, but I’m afraid to update the BIOS/firmware—if the electricity goes out, the motherboard could be damaged.
6. Yes, this happens on all USB ports.

Re: USB still has power after shutdown

New firmware update shows "This update includes the patch for the LogoFAIL vulnerabilities" in description.

I mean, in doubt, a hard power off (ie. holding the power button but do this at the bootloader and NOT from the running system)
If the powered off system still feeds power to the USB devices (so it's not only S5) you'll need some UEFI setting/update for sure but even if it powers the bus on S5 (and you correctly reach that) there's not much you could do from the OS - only power the system down "more" afterwards.

Re: USB still has power after shutdown

Does holding powerbuttun in uefi will do the same? because I use systemd-boot and I ser the timeour to 0. I forgot how I do that I and am not able to increase it. [I have even uninstalled pacman and base in a incident. I know I can installed it by chroot but evenr felt the nececisty {Unneccesey} ]

If holding the power buttun in bootloader powers the mouse then settings problem ? and
If holding the power buttun in bootloader dont powers the mouse then motherboard problem ?

I hold the powerbutton in uefi and its just reboot and 1 presss still gives power to the mouse.

https://deepl.com/

You might have falsely connected the board to the power button, shorting some circuit but while you latest post might be prone to misunderstandings: if you cannot get the power to be cut from the USB at all (even without booting any OS) there's nothing you could do from the OS level to cut it after the shutdown.

Because post #6 indicates that you might benefit from a translation service - or that you were drunk when writing it tongue
