Steam doesn't open using Wofi in Hyprland

I'm using Arch Linux with Hyprland. For some time I've been enjoying and playing Steam games, but this problem is annoying me since it means I can only open Steam through a terminal and not using an application launcher such as Wofi.

As title says, any attempts to open Steam with Wofi, shows the initial "Loading data" window and then doesn't open anything else. I use Waybar and can see in the tray that Steam is running. Using htop I can also see several Steam processes running.
If I click on the Steam tray icon, a dropdown list pops up which enables me to open a Steam page directly such as Store or Library, but clicking any of the buttons here doesn't do anything.

In fact the solution in that thread was to install lib32-radeon-vulkan and radeon-vulkan, replacing amdvlk and lib32-amdvlk respectively. After having done that still nothing changes. I've doubled checked through pacman that steam is depending on radeon-vulkan and not on amdvlk (as I've removed them).

Also I have gone through each point in the wiki regarding Steam installation (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam#Installation) to double-check if anything was missing. In any case, the installation itself might not be the problem since for some months I've been using Steam without any issues through the terminal.

A bit late, but I had exactly the same issue, and it seems it's still on open issue on valves github https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam- … 1584898530

The workaround with setting

PrefersNonDefaultGPU=false

in

$HOME/.local/share/applications/steam.desktop

did fix the issue for me!
