Wow, that was easier than expected ! I thought it would bring tons of dependencies issues along ![]()
Okay so. That was interesting. Using jack :
- PianoTeq works at higher rates with smaller buffers with no crackling at all.
--> with PW I didn't understand the crackling b/c the CPU usage was kinda low -> those were not counted as xruns in pw-top.
Those cracks & pops have disappears.
- Bitwig : I think it has slightly better performance as well -- less impressive than with PianoTeq where I can divide the buffer by 4 and raise the quality by 2-4 ![]()
- Arturia instruments through wineasio or yabridge : not better than before for some reason
I reverted the changes cause this is my main rig, used by several persons for work, gaming etc ;-)
Thanks !

Addentum : actually the only "strange" part of the equation is the "cracks" not triggering xruns in Pianoteq. Probably didn't happen before I started using the "Pro Audio" profile (which helped me halve my round trip latency). Remaining part to investigate is if this profile can be tweaked.

Well, my Yamaha sound card passed away - I replaced it with an Arturia Minifuse.
It seems I get better performance and less crackling (I could divide my buffer by 2). So. Well. The situation is pretty perfect. Just waiting for an updated yabridge for wine 10.x.
BTW, regarding Cable : it seems one has to preferable wait for the next Pipewire release before updating ? PW 1.6 seems to bring tons of performance improvements BTW. There was already, on my setup, a huge benefit between 1.2 and 1.4 (in terms of reduced latency).

Pipewire 1.4 is fine to use, but with new MIDI tab there will likely be piepwire and wireplumber crashes. No issues with 1.6 it seems. There is pipewire-git PKGBUILD included in the latest Cable release. I had issues with AUR versions so I made my own and it works for me. I haven't yet tested latency with the new version but in my experience Piewire gets only better in time.
With Yabridge, what works for me is: winecfg->graphics->check 'emulate avirtual desktop'->set resolution the same as your desktop. Wine will open slightly annoying, well, virtual desktop, but plugins now work as expected with the newest Wine.
