I did a pacman -Syu today, and xfce4-svn and thunar no longer works properly.
I think thunar has been compiled with a missing library, but xfce4 is acting strangly.
My wallpaper is gone, and I can no longer right click on the desktop. If I go into the settings manager, I can check "Allow xfce to manage the desktop", but as soon as I open the window again, it has reverted to being unchecked!
I don't think this is a permission problem, I have access to all the xfce files in ~/.config
I'm also getting annoying flickering from beryl when I rotate my desktop cube. Probably unrelated though...
any help appreciated!

You sure it is not the dbus thing?

...because the XFCE devs have not vanished with the release of 4.4. What else would they do but make plans for 4.6?

ooops
Nevertheless, I appreciate the xfce-svn packages...I like this DE.
If only someone could tell why shutdown doesn't work anymore with the new HAL release...
Cheers!

after messing around with this for a bit, I decided to ditch the svn pckages and go to the non-svn xfce4 packages
everything seems to work now
i still get the really annoying beryl 'cube flicker', but I'm sure the beryl devs will iron that one out...
cheers!

i also have the menus disappear after a while with the new svn, both on the desktop and the taskbar menu. running xfdesktop in a term reloads the desktop menu
this is while using dbus 0.93-1

fixed with upgrade to new xfce4.

i'm having the same issues as the original poster: no wallpaper, no right click menu, settings for xfce4 to manage the desktop won't save after logging out. it seems like the problem is there is no libexo-hal.so.0:
sero@homer:~ $ xfdesktop
xfdesktop: error while loading shared libraries: libexo-hal-0.3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
sero@homer:~ $ locate libexo-hal
sero@homer:~ $ locate libexo
/opt/xfce4/lib/libexo-0.3.so.0.3.1
/opt/xfce4/lib/libexo-0.3.so.0
/opt/xfce4/lib/libexo-0.3.so
/opt/xfce4/lib/libexo-0.3.a
i upgraded yesterday, so it should be in the locate database by now. i looked around anyway, but i didn't see it anywhere.
