Dell Pro 13 PA13250 Dummy Output

Hello. I have a Dell Pro 13 Premium PA13250 with an Intel Core Ultra 5 236V. I've been having lots of problems with this laptop...

Recently, I updated my kernel. Here's what I'm running now.

$ uname -a
Linux xxx 6.17.8-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri, 14 Nov 2025 06:54:20 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

After upgrading to this kernel, I rebooted, and now my audio doesn't work. When I press the volume keys I see "Dummy Output" and no audio plays in any app.

Surprisingly, the LTS Linux kernel now exhibits the same behavior...

Here's some more info about what's installed.

$ sudo lspci -vk -s 00:1f.3
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Lunar Lake-M HD Audio Controller (rev 10) (prog-if 80)

alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.14-2
linux-firmware-intel 20251111-1

Here's some dmesg output.

This is what aplay says.

$ aplay -l
aplay: device_list:279: no soundcards found...

$ arecord -l
arecord: device_list:279: no soundcards found...

I also tried removing the module (don't know why this would work, but I saw it in another post...)

$ sudo modprobe -r snd-sof-pci-intel-tgl && sudo modprobe snd-sof-pci-intel-tgl

Oh, fortunately, Bluetooth audio does work. But, the laptop's speakers and headphone jack do not work.

Anything else I can try?

Re: Dell Pro 13 PA13250 Dummy Output

It's a regression in kernel 6.17.8, I have the same laptop and audio was working in all previous kernels. It looks like it's fixed in 6.18.

Re: Dell Pro 13 PA13250 Dummy Output

I can confirm that audio works on linux-mainline-6.18rc3, but it is broken again on linux-mainline-6.18rc6.

Re: Dell Pro 13 PA13250 Dummy Output

If it'S not the suspected patch it will be necessary to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Bisect … s_with_Git between 6.18.0-rc3 and 6.18.0-rc5
gromit might (still?) have a bisection cache for faster recompilation.
