I heard maybe dotnet 10 SDK package had some complications with Ubuntu after something changed.
Wondering if the package for Arch was running into whatever that was blocking it from being available atm?

https://github.com/dotnet/dotnet/releases/tag/v10.0.100 was released last week and auto-flagged out of date ONE day ago, https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/issues/6
What's *currently* holding it up is https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=130138 #6
Whether there'll be more issues is to be seen.
Whether there're some to expect depends on the problem ubuntu allegedly has.

I recommend not using repo packages for required tooling in your projects, otherwise you will have the version you want only if you are lucky. Take a look at mise, for example. https://mise.jdx.dev/

I was looking to update ReignOS C# services to .NET 10 which just uses main packages and is built around just doing stuff this way for Arch.

ReignOS is not Arch and is not supported here.

ReignOS is literally raw Arch (with some special services for handhelds etc).
This is like saying EndeavourOS isn't Arch fyi. They both literally install Arch packages directly.
ReignOS installer, installs Arch dotnet packages just as someone doing it manually would on Arch using the same commands, pulling from the same sources etc.
This also doesn't matter as the question is about dotnet package complications for Arch. This isn't a question about ReignOS (because I make it). Its about Arch packages.

EOS /is/ not arclinux. But
ReignOS (because I make it)
is salvaging.
Still doesn't exempt you from being less "many people say" wrt
heard maybe dotnet 10 SDK package had some complications
Heard exactly what, where and from whom?
As you might have picked up there certainly issues w/ the pre-existing PKGBUILD pattern that might be caused by an upstream version tagging mess.
@loqs, did you notice the dotnet-source-built-artifacts related changes in https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … ts/7/diffs ?

I've simply asked about Arch package issues that directly effect Arch installers or any other use case and is everything about Arch and not about anything else regardless of how I'm using it.
If I wanted to use it for some rando app I was making, that app isn't "Arch" either but the question still remains (guess I need to keep it simple for people).
I first spoke to .NET devs before coming here wondering about any known configuration changes for Linux as I had read some complications for Ubuntu users online on Reddit somewhere looking around.
So I just asked here too in case anyone knew what those issues might be or if what I was hearing was a misunderstanding. The Clang21 response clearly was one. Although I wonder if using GCC would have the same issue (as .NET 10 can be compiled with GCC on Linux according to devs).
I can poke at some things later myself if needed.

Please avoid bloating the thread with pointless full quotes.
ReignOS is not Archlinux. Period.
The rule however precludes not-archlinux /users/ from seeking for help with systems that are maintained by others.
It does not address users of archlinux, whether they then distribute their efforts as spin-off or not.

So for all we know some ubuntu user might have tried to install dotnet.exe …

This was never some claim I made nor related to anything outside an off the cuff comment I made of how I was going to use the package when available (please read my actual comment and not some failed interpretation of it).
This is about an Arch package that doesn't exist. "Period"(very self evident tbh).
And .NET 10 installs on Ubuntu just fine doing it manually as people have reported on Ubuntu forms, the Ubuntu issue was about their packaging process.
I am not familiar with pacman packaging system so my question has been on point. Having the dotnet-10 package available on Arch repos is the entire point of the original post (nothing more).
The .NET dev gave me this comment
Ubuntu reported issues compiling the source code for their packaging process, so I assume other distributions might hit similar issues. You might have to be more patient this time.

There are several dotnet 10 packages in the aur, but none in archlinux repos.
Moderator Note
Since your original question has been answered and parts of the thread hold info that may be useful for arch users I'm closing this thread but won't dustbin it.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
