In my hyprland GTK based filemanagers can't drag and drop with ctrl

So this is bugging me for a long time now.
I took a plunge to do a fresh install, and give hyprland a try. Its the new hype, you know...

Normally I can find solutions within a few minutes, sometimes it takes me a bit longer, up to a few days.
But this time I am stuck beyond finding any solution.

It began when I used thunar to drag a file with ctrl to copy, and it moved instead.
That was unexpected.

Rechecking configurations, I found nothing, and I don't see any errors in any log.
Run through the whole arch and hyprland wiki again, doesn't look like I missed anything.
AI gave me a few pointers to hyprland options that didn't exist, so that didn't help me either.

Trying a different filemanager (pcmanfm), I get the same issue. pcmanfm-qt does work.

So, it has come to this, I joined the forum. I hope I chose the right section to post this.
I am hoping someone has any suggestions on where  to look for any exceptions being thrown, or other tweaks to try.

My assumption here is something between hyprland and gtk is not working correctly, but I can't find the missing link.

I just happen to use Hyprland and Thunar.  I can confirm the behavior.   I guess I never noticed it because I don't usually drag and drop, I use keyboard shortcuts.

BTW, Welcome to the forums big_smile

That's actually a relief to hear. I scoured the internet, and found no other mention of this.

And thanks!

I suppose the next thing to do is try it in another desktop environment.  When I get home tonight, I can check it in sway, i3 and Gnome.   If you have an alternate DE, you might try it for comparison.

I am not running any alternate DE, at least not on arch...
But it's a good suggestion, I'll try to install some later this week.

It does it on Sway.   I just found out Xorg is broken on my system -- I've not used it for a while.  I need to fix that before I can check i3.

On plasma(wayland) it's also working.
I guess that means it's a hyprland bug.

Maybe I'll go live on the edge, and try it on hyprland-git.

Well, I found out the one spot this is mentioned on the hyprland forum.
I guess it's just the way it is. https://forum.hypr.land/t/drag-and-drop … orking/844
