Hi,
I just ran pacman -Syu today and got this back at the term;
Replace vulkan-mesa-device-select with extra/vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers? [Y/n]I looked around for news on the site and forum, but couldn't find anything.
Does anyone know anything about this, I'm assuming vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers is now replacing device-select?
THANKS

A new layer, VkLayer_MESA_anti_lag, was added. I guess it's just renaming the package for clarification in case others are added.

I also got this, as well as a change in another similar package.

A change in packages like this, isn't there suppose to be News somewhere on it? I have looked around and I can't find any mention of this.
I also thought that vulkan-mesa-device-select and vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers serve different purposes? hmm
THANKS

It's often that changes in packages names happens during update; you normally agree and everything is good. If not - you have info in news on main arch web page.

The files in the mesa repo package needed to support the layers provided by mesa have been moved around before (resulting in needing changes in mesa trunk packages) and will probably be moved more in the future.
As mesa has just one option to select which layers are build I'd expect all of them to be in the same package . The archlinux mesa maintainers clearly disagree with that view.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

I understand that packages change, when this happens it would be nice if the News section noted this, as to the reasons for the changes.
For me, as a Linux user Changelogs is what I am most familiar with, but I'm not certain there are Changelogs referring to this, or I didn't see them.
THANKS
P.S. Ohhh the Admin came in, I am honored you took the time to reply @Lone_Wolf. Thanks for all you do, keep up the great work!P.S. Happy Holidays! ![]()

Nope, the git commit log for the packages is the closest thing to that but you have to look at the individual commits to get a good idea.
As maintainer/co-maintainer of aur mesa-minimal-git and mesa-git I have to do that often.

Thanks, just keep in mind I'm only one of the members of the moderating team.
