bluetooth disconnects on playing the same stream for too long

the last few days ive noticed my bluetooth disconnecting from my laptop, with bluetoothctl stating

[SIGNAL] BREDR.Disconnected - org.bluez.Reason.Unknown, Unspecified
[SIGNAL] Disconnected - org.bluez.Reason.Unknown, Unspecified

after looking at the journal i find that this has been going on since october 10th, but it was never a real problem, as restarting bluetooth would usually resolve the issue for the time. now that doesnt work anymore.
these are the logs in question:

Dec 17 20:28:52 archlinux wireplumber[1950]: spa.bluez5.sink.media: 0x55d9e45dfe08: error 24
Dec 17 20:28:52 archlinux bluetoothd[2299]: src/profile.c:ext_io_disconnected() Unable to get io data for Hands-Free Vo>
Dec 17 20:28:52 archlinux wireplumber[1950]: spa.bluez5: Failed to release transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_D0_56_FB_96_EA>

this is everything the journal says about the issue. these headphones connect fine to my phone, and they seem to work for a bit, but if i play the same audio stream for a couple minutes it disconnects with the above journal entries. i have tried downgrading to a version before october 10th, and that didnt resolve the issue. i think this issue is bizzare and would like some guidance on how to go about fixing this...

Re: bluetooth disconnects on playing the same stream for too long

I'm getting the same issue and I also use wireplumber. From searching around I think it may be an issue with KDE's bluetooth applet. Are you also on KDE? I'm using a Broadcom BCM20702A0 chip on a USB device. Currently using linux-zen 6.18.2 so I need to try the LTS kernel.

[SIGNAL] BREDR.Disconnected - org.bluez.Reason.Unknown, Unspecified
[SIGNAL] Disconnected - org.bluez.Reason.Unknown, Unspecified

Using

journalctl -n 1000 | grep -E '(bluetoothd|wireplumber)'

shows this.

Dec 24 21:31:55 arch bluetoothd[1117]: /org/bluez/hci0/dev_70_6E_84_EE_D2_C0/sep2/fd0: fd(32) ready
Dec 24 21:41:50 arch bluetoothd[1117]: Path / reserved for Adv Monitor app :1.150
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch bluetoothd[1117]: Failed to set mode: Busy (0x0a)
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch wireplumber[1665]: spa.bluez5.sink.media: 0x564a218e3a18: error 24
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch bluetoothd[1117]: src/bearer.c:btd_bearer_disconnected() Unknown disconnection value: 21
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch bluetoothd[1117]: src/device.c:device_disconnected() Unknown disconnection value: 21
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch bluetoothd[1117]: src/profile.c:ext_io_disconnected() Unable to get io data for Hands-Free Voice gateway: getpeername: Transport endpoint is not connected (107)
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch bluetoothd[1117]: Wrong size of start discovery return parameters
Dec 24 21:42:06 arch wireplumber[1665]: spa.bluez5: Failed to release transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_70_6E_84_EE_D2_C0/sep2/fd0: Method "Release" with signature "" on interface "org.bluez.MediaTransport1" doesn't exist
Dec 24 21:43:03 arch bluetoothd[1117]: src/profile.c:record_cb() Unable to get Hands-Free Voice gateway SDP record: Connection timed out

While it technically reconnects, it never gets the audio device running and then will eventually disconnect on its own (or until the earbuds power off). Have you figured this out yet?
