Hello everyone!
I’m new to the Arch world, but not to Linux. I’ve been using Linux for the past 10 years, mostly Ubuntu. Over the last three months, I started using Arch—first with Hyprland, and now I’m digging a bit deeper into the system. It’s great to be part of the forum!

Cheers (from the frozen wastes of Canada),
I began my foray into Linux in 2016, thanks to Joe Collins on YouTube; I did the "Linux Mint Twist," installing LM 19.1 on one of my old potato Acer laptops before going 'all-in' by 2018, installing various flavors of Linux, some of then "Arch-based" on my remaining two Acer potatoes. A few years ago, I did one 'pseudo' "old school" install, mostly following a "Learn Linux TV" YouTube tutorial, but wasn't happy with it, so blew it out with MXLinux. I eventually settled-on Erik Dubois' ArcoB for the longest time as my main daily driver, using my "best" Acer potato: an i3 Aspire E1-572, on which I have replaced the HDD with a 900G SSD, maxed the RAM at 16G (and who's OS will soon be blown-out for a 'proper' old-school Arch install. Not comfortable with having just a single /root partition,no home, and that ArcoB has too much bloat, with far too many ((spooky to me)) obscure pkgs hailing-from Chaotic AUR).
So, this essay was composed on a Dell Optiplex 7010 running vanilla Arch (currently w/ Xfce4, GPT/legacy BIOS), which I just scored from work (thanks to Windoze 11), along with a small platoon of Dell Laptops, an old Lenovo Thinkpad and supposedly the two recently-retired Servers (though not-yet released to me). All for $200 Canadian pesos! The HDD/SSDs were removed by the local IT outfit servicing my place-of-work, so I bought a whack of Samsung 500G SSDs, to hopefully install successfully on most, if not all, of my newly-acquired, old hardware. School's in. Let's see if I can get some semblance of a Computer Lab up-and-running, here. (Curiously, the IT company reported they never bothered to lock-down the UEFI/BIOS on anything, but I'll find out for sure when I begin working on the other rigs).
The time has come for me to expand my shrinking grey-matter. I'm staying-away from the Arch-Install script, as the only way for me to really learn and get comfortable with Arch (and Linux in general) is to not be afraid to blow my feet-off a few more dozen times, until I learn how to focus, aim and truly get my bearings. I now have more-than-enough sacrificial hardware to learn on, though time is often still at a premium.
Thought it best to register on the Arch Forums now, just in case I come across an issue I can't resolve on my own, or for clarification on something. Maybe even help, if or when I reach a high-enough level of comprehension.

I'm Drew, I've been using Linux ever since 2009, but 2022 is when I finally said I'm never touching Windows again unless its for work.
I use exclusively Framework (https frame . work) laptops exclusively since then, and I obviously have now shame in plugging them.
Arch became interesting to me because I'd used Gentoo (My first foray, btw!) in the past, but Gentoo... requires more focus that I eventually decided I was willing to give to my OS. I've tried Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Fedora and various spinoffs, but I decided to try Arch on my first Framework, and... it stuck.
It stuck REALLY hard, even through the messy issues I'm currently having.
I'm not exactly new to Arch, but I'm new to the board. Honestly, I'll think I"ll come by every so often even when I'm not having any issues, because most of the responses are fairly friendly, and I'd like to contribute if I can.

Hey all,
I'm Aruelyxia.
I have no professional tech background, I work in live music events production, both outdoor and indoor events depending on the season.
Decided to try Linux as Windows 10 upgrade was not possible on a laptop that is ridiculously well-made, wasn't allowed to upgrade for the crime of having a slightly older gen Intel Processor.
Tired of Windows advertising stupid nonsense that I don't need such as Candy Crush or Copilot, or using Bing to search for files - so I figured why not give Linux a try, and why not dive right into the deep-end, Arch.
I'm currently working on ricing my system just now, so most of my queries will likely be related to this, and will likely be the silliest questions so patience and grace with me is requested, but of course isn't expected.
Here to learn as much as I can about a new OS and help others once I have the confidence and knowledge to do so!

Hello!
I used Linux Mint for 3 years and wanted to really dig into the internals of Linux while also being able to use my computer efficiently for development. Arch is neither too low level like some distros, nor too opinionated or abstract like others.
