Hello,
Since the latest update of Linux/nvidia/mesa (?), I can't use my dGPU anymore.
When upgrading from 580.105.08 to 580.119.02 when the "nvidia" package still existed, the desktop was really slow and games running at 3fps.
I switched to the legacy dkms drivers (I have a 970M) and now the desktop can't start any more, even when I tried to downgrade to 580.105.08.
Here is the "~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.1.log" file; there is a "Failed to bind sideband socket to '/var/run/nvidia-xdriver-aab0246b' Permission denied" error followed by "unw_get_proc_name failed: no unwind info found", but how to fix it?

What's weird is it was the unmodified file from nvidia-xrun that was working fine for so many years.

nvidia-xrun more or less got superseded by https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME
What's the status-quo? Does the normal session on the intel chip work now?
And can you use prime or bumblebee again? xrun still broken?

I did more tests today. I thought nvidia-xrun was working on the nvidia card without the /etc/X11/nvidia-xorg.conf file, but it was using the intel card, even if the log indicated otherwise.
nvidia-xrun is working again; I reinstalled it by mistake, which overwrote a fix: on nvidia-xorg.conf, `Screen 1 "nvidia"` (section ServerLayout) must be replaced with `Screen "nvidia"`.
Then I uninstalled bbswitch, bumblebee and primus since it was not working any more, and installed nvidia-prime.
I compared nvidia-xrun with nvidia-prime using unigine-heaven (launched twice for each case):
nvidia-xrun with 580.105.08: 125 FPS
nvidia-xrun with 580.119.02: 133 FPS. But the screen is refreshed at 1FPS!
nvidia-prime with 580.105.08: 136 FPS
nvidia-prime with 580.119.02: 130 FPS
It's weird the new drivers are slower on PRIME while having refresh issue on nvidia-xrun, but since the performance is quite close I guess I can drop nvidia-xrun.
Right now my main issue is about the power management. I have a status led showing when the dGPU status, and it's always on now that bbswitch and bumblebee are uninstalled.
There is an old post where you said yourself that nvidia-prime-rtd3pm is not for Maxwell cards.
I tried the bbswitch configuration from the wiki but it makes my system hangs for a minute at boot while the nvidia module tries to access the disabled bus.
I found optimus-manager but I don't like how it forces the logout, I prefer to have a second session like nvidia-xrun does.
What would be the best option? Is it possible to have the card completely disabled until I use prime-run?

https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … type=heads is supposed to blacklist nvidia, so it must be loaded explicitly or exists in the initramfs but you didn't regenerate that after installing bumblebee?

I uninstalled bumblebee because it was failing with this error:

I found how to fix bumblebee/optirun from this post, by setting the BusID parameter.
For the record, unigine-heaven gives a poor result with 70 FPS, but got 125 FPS using primusrun.
With nvidia-xrun-git, bumblebee and bbswitch uninstalled, the only conf files are for my keyboard layout and touchpad options.
nvidia is not explicitly referenced (at least in /etc/X11), but it does load, here is /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
