Update: I did a clean reinstall the issue was still there.

Then I was thinking even though the dock works for Windows and MacOS what happens if I plug in using the display port… and guess what that works fine.

The laptop is used for my work, so I prefer to just plug in usb c and use a gui.

From what I understand the problem originally only affected your (wayland) user session but not the (X11) SDDM so if it's not the display server it will be rooted in your $HOME which I assume you intend to keep.

Status quo ante was  that the output and its EDID are detected by the drm module and the problem is somehow w/ your display server resp. session config.
