I have wanted to report this back then in Septermber to the Arch Linux Gitlab, but I still have not got a reply back from the accountsupport@archlinux.org e-mail, hence posting it here. Hope it reaches the electron/obsidian packagers.
Since upgrading Obsidian to v1.9.10 (built against Electron 37), I am encountering a display bug affecting fcitx5 input on Arch Linux.
The issue appears as incorrect positioning of the fcitx5 candidate/character selection window.
The panel frequently drifts to unexpected locations, often overlapping the text currently being typed, making the input field unreadable. In addition, rendering artifacts are left behind after cancelling input via the IME:
- 1-pixel dots remain on screen;
- and in some cases, cancelled characters remain visually present.
Due to this behaviour, it makes CJK input with fcitx5 effectively unusable.
(I have also tried running it with
obsidian -enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland --enable-wayland-imebut that does not solve the issue either.)
Last working version: Obsidian 1.8.10-1 (Electron v34.5.8-1).
Obsidian v1.9.10 (Electron 37) and later are broken.
I initially posted this to the Obsidian forums (https://forum.obsidian.md/t/linux-cjk-i … bug/105118), but it seems to be an Arch package issue as the Flatpak and the Appimage version works without issues.
Thank you!
