VMware Workstation not loading when 2 monitors in use (iGPU + AMD)

I have a 240Hz (DP) and a 75Hz (HDMI) monitor.

Connecting both to my AMD GPU causes a complete system crash, unless I set both of them to the same refresh rate (75Hz + 75Hz). I don't want to do that.

Using my Intel iGPU for the 75Hz monitor, and connecting my 240Hz monitor to the AMD GPU works around this issue.

HOWEVER, when doing that VMware Workstation refuses to fully start up. No error messages whatsoever. It opens, but keeps 'opening/loading' the individual VMs indefinitely. All buttons are disabled. Unplugging the 75Hz HDMI monitor makes things work again.

Has anybody experienced something like that before? I'm at a loss, especially as I am unable to find anything resembling logs/error messages.

Quick update, I never did figure this out but took the opportunity and migrated my last remaining VMs to virt-manager, which does not have this problem.

Just as well, given that VMware has been giving me copy/paste issues for months now. Good riddance.

Please prepend [Abandoned] or [Gave Up] to the thread title (edit first post)

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
