May I ask, why are you using ramdisk with custom built kernel? IMHO better way is to compile most important things directly into kernel.

EDIT: I tested this patch and it works fine with 2.6.20. You only have to remove the second chunk as it seems this will be used for the next fglrx drivers comming this month.
