[SOLVED] NVIDIA 1650 Ti Max-Q does not suspend when idle.

So i've a Intel i7-1165G7 and NVIDIA 1650 Ti Max-Q card.

cat /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/runtime_status

always active.

Following: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … Power_draw

> lsof /dev/nvidia*
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
Hyprland 967 achilles 46u CHR 195,255 0t0 967 /dev/nvidiactl
Hyprland 967 achilles 47u CHR 195,0 0t0 969 /dev/nvidia0
Hyprland 967 achilles 48u CHR 195,0 0t0 969 /dev/nvidia0
Hyprland 967 achilles 49u CHR 195,0 0t0 969 /dev/nvidia0
Hyprland 967 achilles 50u CHR 195,255 0t0 967 /dev/nvidiactl
> grep . /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/*
/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/control:auto
/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/runtime_active_time:4643562
/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/runtime_status:active
/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/runtime_suspended_time:0
/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/wakeup:disabled

That 'auto' in power/control, I changed it through powertop, it was 'on' before.
There is not much explanation about this in the Wiki, and my gpu consistently uses power ~4-5W when doing absolutely nothing.

Im using nvidia-open-dkms 590.48.01-4 and cachyos kernel "Linux 6.18.6-2-cachyos" (through added repos), however this issue persists in zen, lts and mainline. This has been an issue since before me adding cachyos repo, so i dont think it came from cachyos packages.

cachyOS is not Arch and is not supported here.

Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA 1650 Ti Max-Q does not suspend when idle.

According to them they just use the kernel, not the OS.

I've read some reports that this might be an issue with the GSP firmware and Turing cards. Can you reproduce this if you switch "back" to nvidia-580xx from the AUR and disable the GSP firmware as noted in the note box under: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME#NVIDIA (and maybe generally read that section there are some additional udev files you'll want to create regardless)

Yep, it worked flawlessly, getting nvidia-580xx-dkms from AUR actually worked (and probably udev rules) and this:

options nvidia "NVreg_DynamicPowerManagement=0x02"
options nvidia "NVreg_EnableGpuFirmware=0"
options nvidia "NVreg_EnableS0ixPowerManagement=1"

Now I get full pm from nvidia and system remains very cool!

Thank you V1del for pointing me in the right direction!
