Cannot find the fakeroot binary

New installations I observe complain for absence of fakeroot. I have tried to put it to makedep in PKGBUILD, but it even doesn't try to install fakeroot as makedep. What's wrong?

My PKGBUILD file:

makedepends=(
  blueprint-compiler
  meson
  vala
  fakeroot
)

$ makepkg -rsi
==> ERROR: Cannot find the fakeroot binary.

fakeroot should not ever be used as a dependency, since when dealing with AUR packages, you're expected to have base-devel installed: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_U … ng_started
