gkrellm package missing from repos

gkrellm is missing from the repos. hmm here's the output:

root /home/spookykid/ # pacman -S gkrellmpc
resolving dependencies...
error: cannot resolve dependencies for "gkrellmpc" ("gkrellm" is not in the package set)
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: gkrellmpc requires gkrellm

Just to let you know wink

Re: gkrellm package missing from repos

Is unsupported the same as AUR? So no longer available through pacman? That's a shame for gkrellm then...
And are community and unstable frequently updated? I assume not as frequently as current and extra?

Yes I totally agree with you, it's a real shame sad that's one of my favorite apps. And I'm not very fond of using AUR. sad

Re: gkrellm package missing from repos

I'll add gkrellm to community repo as is a depends of gkrellmpc.

Updating frequency of community and unstable repo are the same as current/extra.

Re: gkrellm package missing from repos

So we wont have a real disadvantage because it's in community instead of extra? That's nice smile

Re: gkrellm package missing from repos

You have GOT to be kidding me. gkrellm is something I use all the time.

I know this purge is due to Arch completely dropping GTK2 support including the shim to let GTK2 programs compile on GTK3. But losing Pidgin, Hexchat, Grip, now gkrellm... Why?

PS: Installing from AUR isn't helping. I started experiencing intermittent freezing on KDE after installing GTK2 from AUR. I think the right thing to do would be to keep the shim (as it is maintained by OpenSuSE) and just keep letting these tools exist.

PPS: I also found out that the developer of gkrellm passed in 2021. This probably means that unless someone forks it, it's good as died with the developer.

Anyone missing gkrellm, have a look at conky. Works well, very configurable.
