Steamvr not working with kde plasma wayland

I've tried to get my steamvr up and running but I keep getting error code 496 telling me that my desktop environment might not support vr.
I've tried switching to x11 and still no luck.

using nvidia(470TI) proprietary drivers

any help would be much appreciated

For AMD GPUs, Mesa 25.3 broke SteamVR:

I remember seeing some comments about a related issue on NVIDIA, but I can't find it at the moment.
Still, maybe you can use the above as a starting point for further investigation.
