Hard reboot when joining video calls or exiting PiP

I'm experiencing hard system reboots on that occur consistently in two scenarios:

  1. Joining a video call (Discord, Google Meet)

  2. Clicking on a PiP to return to the normal window (e.g. Stremio)

There is no freeze or error message. The PC immediately reboots.

I am using linux-lts kernel with Gnome. I would like to post the journal but I don't know which part should I "grep"

Re: Hard reboot when joining video calls or exiting PiP

Ideally you'd not grep anything because greps lose context, after getting force rebooted post a

sudo journalctl -b-1 | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

for the journal of the previous boot and post the link you receive, however if it's indeed as sudden as it appears to be chances relevant info didn't have time to get flushed. Random guesstimate either HWVA shitting the bed (what are you joining video calls with? which browser, which client in case of standalone, what's your GPU?)

Random anecdote my old laptop used to have a similar sudden shutdown when having power saving enabled on snd_hda_intel and then trying to listen to anything via headphone socket headphones, so might also be in that direction, but this was years ago and newer kernels eventually fixed it (reminds me, I haven't touched that much since getting decent machines from work, should probably check whether I can still update that...)

Note that the LTS kernel is over a year old at this point from a development perspective, can you reproduce on the normal kernel? Contrary to popular belief the S doesn't stand for stable, it stands for support, which means that you still receive patches deemed "stable", but there's no inherent guarantee the LTS kernel is any more stable than any more recent stable kernel.
