I'd appreciate if someone were to tell me what's going on with the tar.gz file (which I have tested to not work properly on my arch device, whilst it appears to unzip fine on another device (Linux Mint).
If there isn't much to be done, figuring out how to install the tar.bz2 from the downloads page the "arch way" would be greatly appreciated.
System info:

Have you tried clearing your build cache? and then re-try it?

Yes, same issue.

oh! try without --skipinteg, If it fails again, your connection is likely dropping packets from that source, or the archive is getting corrupted locally I guess, whatever it is, you should probably use pre-compiled one "waterfox-bin" (I saw it, now it shows outdated)
the "Arch" way: just download the tar.bz2 from the site, the "clean" way is to extract it to /opt/ and symlink the binary to /usr/local/bin/; desktop entry and all, but waterfox-bin does all that for you.
Edit: Since yay already downloaded the sources, you can usually reuse the desktop entry it fetched

Found the issue: my internet connection. Switched from my ethernet to my wifi and it appears to be working now.
Thanks anyways, appreciate it!

Glad you found it! Ethernet packet loss can be a nightmare to debug since you usually assume the cable is 'fine.' it might take a while to complete now
Grab a coffee!
