monitor output shrinked to a piece of the screen and blinking

Sup guys I'm having this problem screen and I'm pretty clueless and do not know where to start debugging it

I'm running KDE under wayland

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Max-Q / Mobile [Discrete]
Kernel: Linux 6.18.6-arch1-1

I'm currently using the proprietary nvidia driver, with GSP disabled, but even when I was using the nvidia-open package this was already happening, its not always that this happen, when it happens I need to reboot once or twice.

Re: monitor output shrinked to a piece of the screen and blinking

Does restarting SDDM/KDE suffice?

Re: monitor output shrinked to a piece of the screen and blinking

Please post the journal of an affected boot, eg.

sudo journalctl -b -1 | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

for the previous ("-1") one.

Edit: do NOT reboot out of this w/ the power button, frenetically press ctrl+alt+del or in doubt use the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Keyboa … el_(SysRq) + REISUB

Sup again Seth, I can actually normally login on the affected boot, the monitor just get shrink, would not be easier to just get the jourrnalctl of this boot?

If you can operate the system under those conditions, sure.
Or does the output "fix" with the login?

Sup seth, sorry bothering you again, the problem did happened, I logged in and get the journalctl of the current boot and uploaded just rn bc I did not had time before, here is the journal. Btw it did happened even on a different setup, on a ubuntu with cosmic also. I think it must be related to the graphic driver.

Re: monitor output shrinked to a piece of the screen and blinking

You're getting this on both systems?

Feb 16 09:54:25 pop-os kernel: NVRM: loading NVIDIA UNIX Open Kernel Module for x86_64 580.119.02 Release Build (dvs-builder@U22-I3-B15-03-5) Mon Dec 8 07:51:55 UTC 2025

10de:2860  NVIDIA Corporation  AD106M [GeForce RTX 4070 Max-Q / Mobile]
Do you experience the same w/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-580xx-dkms and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … P_firmware ?

Sup seth, yes for both, on my arch setup I tried switching on and off GSP, also to change to 580xx-dmks module to see if would cause any change, the only difference was the boot loading animation logo of lenovo getting scrambled around the screen LOL. It still happens sometimes.

Re: monitor output shrinked to a piece of the screen and blinking

Disabling the GSP w/ nvidia-open isn't possible.
As for the 580xx situation, do you have the journal for that boot?
If you can actually operate the affected system (how??), please also get the output of

kscreen-doctor

Do you get similar problems w/ X11?
