Hello,
is it recommended/safe to install software from the KDE graphical environment in Arch?
Currently I'm dropping out to a console login to install packages. Do I need to do this, or can I just open up a root konsole in KDE?
Thanks!

Opening a root konsole is OK.

Thanks! That'll make things a bit easier.

Careful: gnome-session and terminal had a bug where they would crash when dbus was updated while they were running (those bugs were fixed though). I didn't see anything like this in KDE yet. But to be safe, you could start the upgrade procedure inside a screen (pacman -S screen, man screen).

Just install and remove some packages is perfectly OK.
If you upgrading whole system (pacman -Suy), after this you need to restart KDE session, (at least after KDE upgrade, it seems that currenly running apps does not want to see new libs)
