update kernal amdxdna errors! [Solved]

This is my first time posting on the archlinux form, I have been getting errors

amdxdna 0000:c3:00.1: [drm] *ERROR* aie2_check_protocol: Incompatible firmware protocol major 7 minor 2
amdxdna 0000:c3:00.1: [drm] *ERROR*
aie2_hw_start: firmware is not alive
amdxdna 0000:c3:00.1: [drm] *ERROR*
aie2_smu_exec: smu cmd 4 failed, 0xff

and more with it failing to run but when i roll back the newer updates in arch linux  amdxdna runs perfectly well.

(Edit) Rebooting and changing a setting to hybrid even though the other option was basically "hybrid" that weirdly fixed it!

How did you install xdna and which hardware is this on? Please also add package versions so that you report can be more easily reproduced smile

Re: update kernal amdxdna errors! [Solved]

According to this https://github.com/amd/xdna-driver/issues/1074 it looks like the amdnpu firmware supplied in linux-firmware-other is too new for the amdxdna module supplied in the kernel. Rolling back just linux-firmware-other to 20260110 does remove the errors in my logs.

Re: update kernal amdxdna errors! [Solved]

Hi, I created a package for amdxdna-dkms using Mario's repository at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/amdxdna-dkms - maybe it's helpful for someone.

Re: update kernal amdxdna errors! [Solved]

Please consider opening an issue on Arch's gitlab instance for the linux-firmware package asking for https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke … 0e699875b5 to be cherry-picked.

Re: update kernal amdxdna errors! [Solved]

How is it solved if your integrated GPU is not being recognized at all?

You can mark a topic as solved by editing the first post and prepending [SOLVED] to the title.
