[SOLVED] Issue with KDE and carshing kded6

Hello, new here. I am running arch with KDE as my DE of choice. I'm new to arch and linux in general, but I've managed so far.

I know arch is inherently unstable, especially if you do not update your system frequently, or do so wrong, so I do my due diligence to update my system daily and keep out of unstable programs. Anyway, I came home today, worked on some uni assignments and once I was done decided to update my system. I ran a 'sudo pacman -Syu' and let it rip, but I immediately noticed that the 'extra' bar on my download in the terminal was taking way longer than usual. Turns out, I had a few packages to download, not many, but I saw that I needed to update my keyring. I did so, and let it run uninterrupted.

After it finished, I rebooted my machine, and while it took a while to turn my second monitor on, it booted up properly. I logged in and the wallpaper I had showed up for one moment before the image flickered, then went black. I cant use my panel, but functionality remains somewhat. I can access the terminal, kde settings and such.

I've tried rebooting again, thinking it was an odd issue, but it is persistent, and now I keep getting spammed with crash reports from the KDE crash handler from 'kded6'.

I tried to run a 'sudo journalctl -b | grep kded6', but the output feels like gibberish.

Output:

Im running a 13600k with a 3060, if the hardware helps in anyway.

TLDR: Updated system via pacman -Syu, fetching the update took a while, updated a handful of packages I didnt fully glean at (less than 10) amogst which was my archlinux-keyring, rebooted to find my DE gone and spammed with crash errors regarding kded6

Edit: these are the packages I upgraded:

Re: [SOLVED] Issue with KDE and carshing kded6

Try downgrading pulseaudio-qt to 1.7.0-2 please?

edit: Or even better: Upgrading to pulseaudio-qt 1.8.0-3

Im not sure what I've done..

I downgraded the packages I upgraded (kirigami, kservice and kguiaddons) and cleared the ~/.cache directories related to plasma. Rebooted the machine but I still had issues so i re-upgraded via sudo pacman -Syu and now it works.

I am confused

Edit: kded6 still seems to be crashing? My system seems to work, and I can access my panel and everything, so this is getting me more confused.

I had the same issue and I first downgraded to pulseaudio-qt to 1.7.0-2 to get back an usable plasma desktop and later upgraded to  to pulseaudio-qt 1.8.0-3. The issue is now gone.

Re: [SOLVED] Issue with KDE and carshing kded6

I had the same problem; thankfully I only got the `kded` crash messages everytime my system suspended (and restarting plasmashell got bcak to a fully working desktop). I've upgraded pulseaudio-qt, and hope it's gone away....

Re: [SOLVED] Issue with KDE and carshing kded6

Seems I'm not so lucky on my end. From what I noticed a short time after I boot up my system tray fills with kded6 crash reports no matter what I do.
Tried downgrading pulseaudio-qt to 1.7.0-2, reboot & test, then upgrade to 1.8.1-1. Ive even tried just outright downgrading all the packages I upgraded to no end and reinstalled all the audio related libraries.

Now everything is up to snuff, including pulseaudio-qt 1.8.1-1, but I still get crashes from kded6.

From the coredump info of kded6, I gather that its an audio issue, but I have no idea what am I doing wrong:

I can still use my machine and the audio works fine, the DE is ok and overall nothing is out of place except the wave of crash reports

Update: I moved my coredump files from /coredump (and coredump itself since I forgot a /, though I did put it back empty tongue) and rebooted it. Fixed the issue. I hate myself
