Help with audio device and firefox

Hi! i just install arch linux 64 via ftp. I use the beginers guide in the wiki to setup network and kde and all works fine except for firefox (it wont start says something about firefox doesnt exist and if i type firefox in a temrinal nothing happend. maybe i need lib32 or something similar?) and my audio card wasnt detected i check kmix and is empty.
If someone can help me it would be great : )

Cheers!

Re: Help with audio device and firefox

Did you install firefox? pacman -Sy firefox should do that. Also, firefox is placed in /opt/mozilla on Arch so you'll need to relogin to have it in your path.

Have you tried using alsaconf to configure the sound card? You'll need alsa-lib and alsa-utils to use alsaconf. Install the same as firefox but different package names. Oh, and if you're new to linux I would suggest you start with the i686 version, as it has more developers and fewer challenges for newcomers than Arch64.

Thanks i will try! i not new to linux i dont know much but i can handle some things. I know i686 is easier but i want to try a amd64 distro optimized. so far arch is fast as hell and works good. i will try to fix this when i get back home.

Thanks!

Or do an

source /etc/profile

Have you tried to turn it off and on again?
