thunar-vfs-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the HAL daemon: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Connection refused.
In my .xinitrc I start xfce with: exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session /opt/xfce4/bin/xfce4-session
I basically replaced the entry for launching gnome-session with xfce4-session.
Any tips would be welcomed.
I basically don't know what I'm doing. lol

Both, the hal and the dbus daemon have to run.
# /etc/rc.d/hal start
# /etc/rc.d/dbus start
Don't forget to add the two daemons to your DAEMON array in your /etc/rc.conf

I have just hal in my daemons list. I was under the impression that hal starts dbus if it isn't running?

Well I just restarted and the error seems to have gone.
I remember it updated dbus earlier so maybe that was the problem.
