LightDM displaying in wrong monitor

I have a monitor attached to a laptop.  I would like for the LightDM greeter to always appear on the laptop, but sometimes it appears on the monitor.  At this link...

...under the heading "6.7 LightDM displaying in wrong monitor", it offers a couple of possible solutions.  I tried both of them but neither of them fixed the problem.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I had the same issue with LightDm login appearing on another (non laptop) monitor.

What fixed it for me was the following:

Edit the /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf to
[greeter]
active-monitor=0

Thank you.  I tried that, and also the other solution suggested at the link I provided.  Unfortunately neither of those worked.
