Senao drivers?

I just picked received my new pmcia 200mw prism2 card in the mail today and I'm itching to get it going.  I've tried it with Backtrack 2 and the range is amazing with the 5.5 db antenna.  I'm going to get some weird looks at the local coffee shop.

I haven't had any trouble with my madwifi but I can't seem to get this working.

Here is my rc.conf:

Interfaces to start at boot-up (in this order)
# Declare each interface then list in INTERFACES
#   - prefix an entry in INTERFACES with a ! to disable it
#   - no hyphens in your interface names - Bash doesn't like it
#
# Note: to use DHCP, set your interface to be "dhcp" (eth0="dhcp")
#
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="dhcp"
ath0="dhcp"
wlan0="dhcp"

wlan_ath0="ath0 essid any"
wlan_wlan0="wlan0 essid any"

WLAN_INTERFACES=(ath0 wlan0)
INTERFACES=(lo eth0 ath0 wlan0)

I'm running the stock 2.6 kernel and I've installed the wlan-ng26 package and all I get on an iwconfig is an wifi1 and wlan0 connected to a test.  "iwlist wlan0 scan" returns a no networks found but my ath0 works fine.  Any input?

Re: Senao drivers?

The wlan-ng26 package provides prism2/2.5/3 drivers for USB only. Do you know which chipset your card uses?

Re: Senao drivers?

Prism 3

Maybe I should download drivers from another site???  I would think arch would have support for this chipset though.

Re: Senao drivers?

You need the orinoco or hostap drivers - both are included in the kernel26 package.

Re: Senao drivers?

That would make sense since it shows a wifi1 and wlan0 even though the driver I had installed has been removed.  Why do you think it isn't scanning?  If everything is in the kernel it should work fine but it's not.  Thanks for your help tomk.

Re: Senao drivers?

If it's brand new you have to downgrade the firmware. 1.7 should work best.

Re: Senao drivers?

I'll downgrade the firmware and see how it works.  Thanks.
