Change fctix5 language

Hello,
I would like to use fcitx5 as my default keyboard engine. I set it via KDE Settings in the section virrtual keyboard. But how can I switch the language of my keyboard?

I am running KDE Plasma 6 with Wayland. When I change it in the keyboard settings, it resets every boot. When I edit .config/fcitx5/profile, it also gets reset after reboot and does not make a difference after saving. So now after boot  I have to manually change my keyboard settings.

Is there any ways I can make the change permanent, so no US keyboard appears whatsoever? I only want the Slovak one.
