The AUR icaclient package depends on webkit2gtk. I am confused about the versions of webkit2gtk, but I think the closed source proprietary icaclient requires the old 4.0 API and not the new 4.1 API. There used to be a package called webkit2gtk in the main repos, but now there is only webkit2gtk-4.1. The AUR has a package called webkit2gtk-imgpaste which might be the 4.0 version with "patches for pasting images from clipboard", but it takes a really long time to build and I don't know if it will work with icaclient (there is a comment on the icaclient AUR pages that says it does).
Should I "steal" heftig's old webkit2gtk package and stick it on the AUR? If I do this, what would be the package naming and version convention?
Is there a better way?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

You can also get webkit2gtk from the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_Linux_Archive (since you require it for a dated binary-only things can't get much worse this way but you might eventually run into dependency issues, notably around https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/icu/ )
Under no circumstances upload prebuilt binaries to the AUR.
