Uninstalling XGL or so...

Hi, I tried to install XGL-compiz in my laptop ( an Sony PCG-R505GL, PIIIM, Intel 82830M Video Chipset, 256 Mb of ram) because some where around the web I found that someone had done it using a laptop with the same video chipset.

Well for some seconds i had the happiness of seeing that some menus where possible to be seen (i can see only the exterior part of the windows, but my desktop just dont appear at all, so the only things i can see is my 3 windows, and nothing, no panels, no desktop.

By the way, once did move the windows and the visual candy was working.

After deciding that i just my "not-suitable" chipset what was failing I tried to go backwards just undoing every step i had done before, startx runs OK with the only problem that there is not windows manager at all. How can i set this back?

I'm using Arch at the art-of-the-state with Gnome.

P.S. If someone had installed XGL under a similar situation, pls point me in the right direction, I would love to have a nice IU on my old and appreciated ol' pal smile

I used the method 1 of the guide in the Arch Wiki:
