energy saving...

hello... so im playing around with powersaving utils like acpi and cpufreq and powersave, but im wondering if on a desktop do i need acpid, and as for cpu scaling, does it matter if i use cpufreq or powersaved. i tried both and seem to work fine. and as for my DAEMONS= i was wondering if i have them in the right order, though things seems to be fine, except for the one issue i can't seem to solve, which is when i leave my system over night or longer there's a hiccup in the system that i can only notice when playing music.

DAEMONS=(syslog-ng crond acpid dbus hal cpufreq ifplugd !dhcdbd !networkmanager proftpd portmap hplip cups)

thx...

Re: energy saving...

I noticed you don't have alsa in DAEMONS line, Maybe something to look into

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

Re: energy saving...

That alsa script (/etc/rc.d/alsa), iirc, saves your volume levels and such.  Just an FYI
