I accidentally deleted a partition on my external hardrive
using this command:
mkdosfs -n STUFF /dev/sda1
(retarded I know..:rolleyes:).
Luckily I don't have any critical files on this drive, but there's some
nostalgic games n such that I'd like back.
Is there anyway to get it back or is it lost forever?

well i dunno anything about file recovery in *nix file systems but
restoration http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlrestoration.html
is a very good fat342+16 file recovery tool.
btw, i think it will help if you state te file system you want to recover files from.

Thanks, I might try that.
If not, anyone else know about restoring in *nix?

I'm not sure, but I think you can use testdisk for this:

Try lde (pacman -S lde). It seems to be able to recover files. I've never used it though.

I tried testdisk, but it doesn't recover files, only fixes lost partitions/mbr's 'n such.
lde has very limited support for FAT unfortunately, doesn't seem to find all the files.
